Former West Virginia quarterback and athletic director Oliver Luck has been hired as a consultant by the Pac-12 to help the conference with possible expansion per Bob Hertzel.
The Pac-12 currently has four teams left; California, Oregon State, Washington State, and Stanford, the school where Oliver’s son, Andrew, was the starting qb for four years and eventual first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Luck was the athletic director for WVU from 2010-2014 and is credited with helping navigate West Virginia to the Big 12 during the collapse of the Big East.
Luck left West Virginia in 2014 to take the position of executive vice president of regulatory affairs for the NCAA. Most recently, Luck was the commissioner and CEO of the revived XFL from 2018-2020, but was relieved of his duties two days prior to the league filing for bankruptcy.
