JJ Wetherholt entered Tuesday’s game having cooled off following his red hot start to his MLB career.
The WVU baseball legend and current St. Louis Cardinals short-stop then left the night having reignited himself with his first multi-homer game of his MLB career.
Going yard in both the third and eight innings, Wetherholt smashed two long balls and drove in three runs in the game.
His second home run was a two-run shot that moved the Cardinals to within one run before eventually winning 6-5 in 10 innings.
Now hitting .231, Wetherholt has three home runs and eight RBI on the season.
Wetherholt played in both Double-A and Triple-A throughout 2025. Across both levels, Wetherholt hit 28 doubles, 17 home runs, 59 RBI, and stole 23 bases. He was named the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month in July.
