After securing one of the best recruiting classes in school history with the 2026 class, WVU football is already hard at work to secure commitments for the 2027 group. Coinciding with the start of spring practice, the Mountaineers have had multiple recruits in on visits and some of those visits are already paying off for West Virginia.
Over the past week, WVU was able to earn verbal commitments from two different 2027 recruits, one being a defensive player and one being an offensive player.
The first of the two came on the defensive side as the Mountaineers secured a commitment from Defensive Lineman DaJour Webb on March 7th. Webb hails from Pennsylvania where he has already put together a solid resume ahead of his Senior season at Pine-Richland High School. He has already won a WPIAL championship and has been named both first team all-conference and first team all-state at his Defensive Tackle position. If his accolades aren’t impressive enough, then his size certainly should be as he is already listed at a very impressive 6-foot-3, 330 pounds.
The second of the two recent commitments for WVU shares that same trait of impressive size, albeit coming at the Wide Receiver position. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 180 pounds, Roscoe Hayes is certainly a welcomed addition to the recruiting class that committed to the Mountaineers on March 13th. Especially considering the fact that he showcases good speed and athleticism to accompany that impressive frame. Hayes is a native of Georgia and actually plays for the same High School as all-time WVU great Pacman Jones as he currently attends Jones’ alma mater, Westlake High School.
These two commitments should provide a solid foundation for the 2027 WVU football recruiting class as the Mountaineer coaching staff looks to put together another impressive group of recruits.
