Full police report details from Huggins’ arrest revealed

On Friday night, WVU men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins was arrested in Pittsburgh on DUI charges. As of Saturday morning, new information has been released on Huggins’ arrest.

According to officers, Huggins was in the middle of a roadway with a flat and shredded tire, blocking traffic behind him. When officers approached Huggins, it was stated that they could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.

When conversing with Huggins, the officers reported that he was unable to explain how his tire became flat or where he was. Huggins also could not tell officers how he had gotten to Pittsburgh. According to the report, Huggins also stated, “a few times,” that he was in Columbus.

Officers conducted a ‘walk and turn test” as well as a “one-legged test,” both of which Huggins struggled to get through. After the tests were conducted, Huggins was placed in custody.

After Huggins was placed in custody, officers found empty beer cans in a white garbage bag in the front, passenger floorboard, while also spotting another white garbage bag with empty beer bottles in his trunk.

After this, Huggins was given a breathalyzer test, in which he blew a .210.

West Virginia University and the West Virginia Athletic Department released a joint statement earlier on Saturday saying they are going to take appropriate action once they are done gathering the full details of the matter.
