WVU Football continues to build their 2027 recruiting class as they have recently added some offensive recruits to their haul of verbal commitments. One of those commits plays wide receiver and the other is a quarterback, but they both have one thing in common – speed.
The quarterback commit is the more recent of the two – Andre Phillip II committed to the Mountaineers on May 8th. The Texas quarterback recruit first received an offer from WVU back in March. When you watch Phillip on tape, he certainly passes the eye test for what you would imagine to be a perfect fit for a Rich Rodriguez offense.
Not only does his high school seem to run some similar read concepts and utilize the quarterback in the run game, Phillip himself possesses a good arm and breakaway speed at the position. Listed at 6-foot-3 and weighs in at over 190 pounds, Phillip will play his senior season in Texas at Klein Oak High School.
The other commit for the Mountaineers came back on May 1, when one of the fastest wide receiver recruits in Georgia decided to verbally commit to WVU. Currently playing for the Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Ga., Jacobi Pasley was a highly sought after prospect by multiple power-conference programs. The 6-foot, 180-pound athlete chose West Virginia over offers from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Vanderbilt among others. Because of his speed, Pasley is not only a track star having won the 2024 Class 5A 400-meters championship, but he’s also very versatile on the football field as well. During his sophomore season, he was used all over the field as he actually ran for 840 yards that year as he was utilized in the backfield some as well.
With these two additions, the 2027 WVU Football recruiting class just got a lot faster. Below is a list of the current 2027 WVU verbal commitments, followed by a video highlighting quarterback Andre Phillip and another video highlighting wide receiver Jacobi Pasley.
