Producing a highlight on a nightly basis, St. Louis Cardinals rookie sensation JJ Wetherholt accomplished something more commonly seen in little league on Friday night.
Wetherholt picked up a grand slam of sorts, doing it without hitting the ball out of the ballpark. He got all around the bases and all the way, as did his three teammates already onboard when he stepped to the plate, after rocketing a ball to the deep outfield.
The “Little League Grand Slam” was his only hit of the game, but led the Cardinals to a 6-0 victory over the San Diego Padres.
He’s now hitting .234 with seven home runs, 20 RBI and 29 runs scored on the year.
