West Virginia’s All-Big 12 First Team center is turning heads just three months out of the NFL Draft.
Zach Frazier, a projected second or third round pick in the 2024 draft, has been drawing attention from draft analysts in recent weeks, primarily due to his obvious recovery efforts.
Frazier suffered a leg injury in the final game of WVU’s 8-4 regular season campaign, which he helped lead through his efforts on the offensive line. Now, just two months later, Frazier is back at work, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler reported Friday.
This level of commitment is nothing new for the newly crowned First Team Academic All-American. In four years at WVU, Frazier started 47 games, including nine at left guard as a freshman, and earned various Big 12 honors each year since 2020.
The performance he put on the field in those years was also highlighted this week, namely by the NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.
Jeremiah’s reference to Frazier’s high school wrestling success is not to be ignored. Frazier was named 2020’s Times West Virginian Wrestler of the Year after becoming Fairmont’s first four-time individual state champion with a career record of 159-2.
Now, Frazier’s power and work ethic could lead him on a path to similar accolades at football’s greatest stage. The NFL Draft begins April 25 and will run through April 27.
