With the NFL season starting to wrap up with the AFC and NFC championships this weekend, fans may start looking forward to the NFL draft that begins on Apr. 25 for their team to add young superstars to their rosters.
West Virginia center Zach Frazier, who has started 34 games for the Mountaineers in his career, including 25 straight starts at C and was recently named WVU’s 12th First Team Academic All-American in the history of the program, could be a hot commodity for franchises looking to bolster their offensive line.
Frazier, the Fairmont native, had his career as a Mountaineer career cut short after suffering an injury on the final/winning drive against Baylor on Nov. 25, 2023.
West Virginia fans may remember him carrying wide receiver Hudson Clement to a first down before having difficulty getting off the field, not returning.
Although Frazier isn’t projected to be a first-round pick, he has appeared in many mock drafts with his current projections being as follows:
Dan Brugler, The Athletic (Jan. 16): Pittsburgh Steelers — 51st overall
Ian Cummings, Pro Football Network (Jan. 20): Pittsburgh Steelers — 51st overall
Connor Livesay, The 33rd Team (Jan. 22): Tampa Bay Buccaneers — 57th overall
Shane Hallam, Draft Countdown (Jan. 15): Los Angeles Chargers — 69th overall
Tankathon: Arizona Cardinals — 71st overall
Curt Popejoy, The Draft Wire (Jan. 9): Seattle Seahawks — 78th overall
Luke Easterling, FanNation/Sports Illustrated (Jan. 11): Tampa Bay Buccaneers — 84th overall
