West Virginia loses top reliever to transfer portal

West Virginia baseball continued to feel the hits from the transfer portal, as right-handed pitcher Noah Short entered the portal, per D1Baseball.

Short, set the program record with appearances at WVU across four seasons with 76 appearances. Short appeared in 24 games this season for WVU, pitching in high leverage situations a majority of the time.

Short finished with a 3.65 ERA across 12.1 innings pitched. In 76 career appearances, Short has totaled 72.2 innings pitched, with 89 strikeouts, and a 3.34 ERA. Short is from Scott Depot, West Virginia, attending Hurricane High School and spent one season at Morehead State in 2019 where he redshirted.

Short joins Ben Hampton as two pitchers who WVU relied heavily upon this past year to enter the portal.

Short also posted on Instagram saying, “Much love dub v! A Mountaineer for life!”
