Phil Forte set to join Ross Hodge in Morgantown

Announced by Jeff Goodman on X today, Ross Hodge will be bringing former North Texas assistant, Phil Forte with him to West Virginia.

Forte played basketball in the Big 12 at Oklahoma State so he has some familiarity with Morgantown. While playing for the Cowboys, Forte averaged 12.9 points, two rebounds, and 1.3 assists while being named Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year for the 2013-14 season. He was also an All-Big 12 selection for the 2014-15 season.

Forte’s coaching career started at Saint Louis as a graduate assistant from 2017-19. He then spent time as an assistant coach for Sam Houston from 2019-21, Saint Louis from 2021-23 and then North Texas from 2023-25.
