Those that follow college basketball closely on X have probably see Jon Rothstein’s constant coverage of the sports for many teams. One of the things Rothstein has done of the years if give teams certain catchphrases for when they win.
Over the years, Rothstein used, “West Virginia basketball, tougher than a weekend at your in-laws” in his tweets following big WVU basketball victories. Since DeVries took over in 2024, Rothstein however has since stopped using the phrase, saying he was going to let it die with the Bob Huggins era and would let a new phrase come naturally.
Fans have called on Rothstein to find a new phrase for WVU or bring back the old beloved one. During Hodge’s press conference, he made regards to the phrase saying it’s how he wants to play on the court, to which Rothstein replied on X.
