JJ Quinerly is going to go down as one of the best players in West Virginia women’s basketball history. She not only scored over 2000 points, but was also one of the best defensive guards in the entire country. This led to her nomination as a finalist for the Naismith Women’s College Defensive Player of the Year
Quinerly averaged three steals per game including seven in one game on the road at Cincinnati. She finished with 97 total steals this season.
“A lot of time I just try to bait people into doing things that they may not like to do. Like crossing over in front of me most of the time is how I get a lot of my steals, or just watching film, seeing what they like to do, and taking that away from them,” Quinerly said
As her college career comes to a close, JJ Quinerly will look to continue this defensive prowess in the WNBA later this year. She will look to join a short list of Mountaineers in the league.
