Redshirt senior wide receiver Jaden Bray decided to stick around despite the coaching change this past offseason, in a media session Tuesday he discussed that decision and what West Virginia means to him.
In 2024, Jaden Bray decided to transfer to WVU from Oklahoma State, where he had spent the previous three seasons. Last year in his first season with the Mountaineers he dealt with some injury issues that kept him out for the majority of the season, when he was on the field he hauled in two passes for 88 yards.
Bray decided to stick around in Morgantown despite the head coaching change after Neal Brown was fired at the end of the season in 2024. Bray, a Norman, Oklahoma native discussed what West Virginia means to him and how it played a role in his decision to stay.
“I like West Virginia, I like the state, I felt like since I moved out here, I’ve gotten to know myself better, just being far away from home, just have to grow up a little bit, I feel like I’m more locked in out here, I just really like everything about West Virginia. That’s why I ended up staying, I wanted to at least give Rich Rod and his staff a chance before I made any big decisions,” Bray said.
This will be the third offensive system that Bray will have to get accustomed to in the past three season going fro Oklahoma State to WVU under Neal Brown, and now Rich Rodriguez’s high tempo offense.
“Anything new can be tough, but with the coaching staff that we have, Coach Garrett and Coach Nehlen, they are doing a great job making sure we’re all ready to go before we step out on the field,” Bray said.
“I’m really enjoying it now being here and playing for Rich Rod and his staff,” Bray said.
