Personnel turnover has made its way to the top of the starting lineup at West Virginia.
Rising junior forward Amani Hansberry will enter the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton announced Tuesday. Hansberry averaged 9.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 23.6 minutes per contest in his first and only season at WVU.
Hansberry came to Morgantown from Illinois to play under head coach Darian DeVries, who after one season has departed West Virginia for Indiana. Hansberry totaled the second most points on the Mountaineers this season, behind only senior and All-Big 12 First Team selection Javon Small.
With Hansberry’s announcement, he is the third eligible returning starter to enter the transfer portal from WVU, the others being coach DeVries’ son Tucker, who missed the majority of the season with a shoulder injury, and freshman Jonathan Powell, who replaced DeVries on the starting lineup in his absence.
