SOURCES: West Virginia’s Darian DeVries no Longer in the Running for Iowa Job

After a lot of turmoil the last few days, West Virginia may finally have good news.

According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Darian DeVries is no longer a candidate for the Iowa head coaching position. The news comes after DeVries met with the Hawkeyes yesterday after being snubbed from the NCAA tournament.

DeVries and the Mountaineers finished with a 19-13 record, going 10-10 in the Big 12. They were the first team out of the NCAA tournament despite going 6-10 in Quadrant 1 games.

The snub started a riot on all social media and raised many questions about the future of DeVries in the WVU program. Other opportunities will surely come DeVries’ way in the coming weeks, but with his name out of the Iowa discussions, WVU’s largest threat on paper to its head coach is out of the way.
