Head coach Darian DeVries and Javon Small were awarded All-District honors for 2024-2025 season in the NABC District.
The NABC has released their All-District teams and Coach of the Year awards, voted on by the members of the NABC and other division one coaches around the country.
Javon Small was named to the All-East District First Team. Small was the heartbeat of the WVU team once Tucker DeVries went down, Small was asked to step up in his spot, and he did not disappoint. In 32 games played, Small averaged 18.6 points, which was second in the Big 12 to go along with 5.6 assists and two rebounds a game while shooting 46.7% from the field and 36.4% from three.
Darian DeVries earned Co-Coach of the Year alongside Kevin Willard, the head coach of Maryland. DeVries in just his first season in Morgantown, turned the program completely around going from nine wins to 19 and being on the doorstep of the NCAA Tournament. WVU ended the season as one of the first four out and missed out on the NCAA Tournament after a controversial decision to send UNC over WVU.
Both Small and DeVries were in the running for Big 12 Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, but were beat out by JT Toppin of Texas Tech and Kelvin Sampson of Houston who has won the award for the second consecutive year. Small and DeVries were massive contributors to the success of the Mountaineers in the 2024-2025.
