Seven women’s teams from the Big 12 are headed to the NCAA Tournament. The West Virginia women’s basketball team received a No. 6 seed in the Birmingham 2 Region and will open the first round against No. 11 seeded Columbia or Washington in Chapel Hill on Saturday.
As the No. 2 seed in the Birmingham 3 Region, TCU (31-3, 16-2) will host first and second rounds and face No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson.
Baylor (27-7, 15-3) comes in at the next highest seed, sitting at No. 4 in their region. The Lady Bears will face Grand Canyon in the First Round in the Spokane 1 Region.
No. 5 Kansas State (26-7, 13-5) will play No. 12 Fairfield in the Spokane 4 Region in Lexington, Kentucky.
Oklahoma State (25-6, 14-4) sits at the No. 7 spot in the Spokane 4 Region. They will face No. 10 South Dakota State.
In their fourth NCAA appearance in a row, No. 8 Utah (22-8, 13-5) will face No. 9 Indiana in the Birmingham 2 Region in Columbia, South Carolina.
Iowa State (22-11, 12-6) comes in with a No. 8 seed will have a First Four matchup against Princeton in South Bend, Indiana in the Birmingham 3 Region.
This marks the first time the Big 12 has sent seven teams in consecutive seasons since 2010-13.
