MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 14, 2025) – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team lost to No. 30 Arizona State, 4-0, in Tempe, Arizona, on Friday.
Arizona State gained an early advantage in the match as it took the doubles point to lead, 1-0. The pairing of senior Michaela Kucharova and freshman Laura Villanueva Morillo led No. 79 Sara Svetac and Karin Altori, 5-4, when the match went unfinished.
West Virginia (6-10, 0-5 Big 12) could not muster a rally in singles play as the Sun Devils quickly clinched the match.
Graduate student Julie Bousseau lost in the No. 2 seed match, 6-0, 6-1. Kucharova lost in the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-0.
Arizona State clinched the match as WVU senior Tatiana Lipatova lost, 6-0, 6-2, in the No. 6 seed match.
