Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament Bracket Breakdown

The Big 12 Tournament is set to begin Tuesday, March 11th, in Kansas City. Here’s how the bracket is aligned and how it will impact WVU.

The first four tournament games are set to tip-off Tuesday, March 11th, with four games throughout the whole day. Starting with No. 12 Oklahoma State against No. 13 Cincinnati at 12:30 pm EST. After the conclusion of that first game, No. 9 TCU will take on No. 16 Colorado. No. 10 Kansas State and No. 15 Arizona State at 7 pm EST. The first day will conclude with No. 11 Utah and No. 14 UCF at 9:30 pm EST.

Wednesday will be the second round games that will feature the winner of No. 12 Oklahoma State and No. 13 Cincinnati against No. 5 Iowa State at 12:30 pm EST. No. 8 WVU will face the winner of No. 9 TCU and No. 16 Colorado at 3 pm EST. At 7 pm EST, No. 7 Baylor will face the winner of No. 10 Kansas State and No. 15 Arizona State. To conclude the second-round games, No. 6 Kansas will face the winner of No. 11 Utah and No. 14 UCF at 9:30 pm EST.

The tournament will continue into Thursday, March 13th, with the start of the quarterfinal games, and No. 1 Houston, No. 2 Texas Tech, No. 3 Arizona, and No. 4 BYU await their matchup depending on how the second round shakes out.

WVU split the season series with TCU, dropping the game on the road and winning the matchup at home. They beat Colorado early on in the season by eight. If the Mountaineers win their second-round matchup, they will have a matchup with the No. 1 seeded Houston Cougars, who beat them handily twice in the regular season.

The semifinal games will take place on Friday, March 14th, with the finals the following day.

Iowa State is looking to stay on top of the Big 12 tournament, winning its second consecutive title. They repeated as champions in 2014 and 2015 when they went back-to-back.
