Former WVU quarterback Geno Smith reunited with former head coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas in a deal that sent draft compensation back to Seattle.
Geno Smith was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick. Smith had been with Seattle since 2019, where he became the full-time starter in 2022 and revitalized his playing career in the NFL after stints with the Chargers and Giants as a backup.
Throughout his tenure in Seattle, Smith recorded 12,961 passing yards while throwing for 76 touchdowns and earned himself a three year deal worth $75 million in 2023.
Smith will rejoin Pete Carroll in Las Vegas, who he played for in Seattle from 2019 to 2024 when Carroll was fired by the Seahawks. This is a huge move for the Raiders, to acquire their starting quarterback in Smith, who Pete Carroll has publicly described as someone he’s “always admired.”
