West Virginia had to replace almost an entire roster after announcing they had re-hired Rich Rodriguez. Now that the roster is filled out, here are a few players who can make a huge impact in their first season in Morgantown.
DL Jimmori Robinson
Robinson is a redshirt senior defensive lineman transferring to WVU after four years at UTSA. In those four years, the 6-foot-4 defensive lineman recorded 15 sacks and 30 tackles for loss, including 10.5 sacks in 2024. Robinson earned 2024 AAC Defensive Player of the Year honors after his big 2024 season. Robinson was a big transfer target for the Mountaineers and ultimately chose WVU over Virginia Tech. He is expected to make a massive impact on the defensive line in 2025.
IOL Walter Young Bear
Young Bear is a redshirt senior interior offensive lineman who is transferring to WVU from Tulsa. He was a former walk-on and ended up starting 13 games while appearing in 33 in his career at Tulsa. Young Bear earned a three-star rating as a transfer, according to 24/7 Sports, and is expected to be a cornerstone piece to the Mountaineers offensive line in 2025.
WR Cam Vaughn
Vaughn is a redshirt sophomore wide receiver who spent his 2024 season at Jax State, playing for head coach Rich Rodriguez. In 2024, Vaughn hauled in 48 passes for 803 yards and five touchdowns while only starting the final eight games of the year. He also earned All-Conference USA Freshman Team Honors in 2024. Vaughn is expected to get a really good opportunity to play his way into a starting spot in his first year at WVU after being familiar with Rich Rod’s offensive scheme.
CB Michael Coats Jr.
Coats is a redshirt senior cornerback who is transferring to WVU after spending time at Nevada and East Central Community College. He was regarded as one of the better returning cornerbacks for 2025 after earning All-Mountain West First Team honors in 2024 in a season in which he defended 17 passes and intercepted four passes. Coats will get a fair chance at winning a starting spot throughout spring practices and hopes to make an impact for a position group that struggled in 2024 for WVU.
