After WVU’s big road win over Utah, they sit in a good position to make the NCAA Tournament, according to Jerry Palm at CBS Sports’ latest bracketology. Check out where they stand and who they may see in the first round.
The latest Jerry Palm bracketology has WVU staying at the No. 10 seed and playing No. 7 Maryland in the first-round matchup at the East Region in Raleigh, North Carolina. The winner of WVU/MD would have a matchup with the winner of No. 2 Alabama and No. 15 South Alabama in the next round of the tournament.
If that ends up being the first-round matchup for WVU, it would be the second consecutive time they would start the tournament playing Maryland. In 2023, as a No. 9 seed, they lost a nail-biter to No. 8 Maryland 67-65.
West Virginia will play one more game against UCF on Saturday, March 8th, at 5:00 PM EST at the WVU Coliseum to close the season. WVU hopes to close the season on a high note and have them called on Selection Sunday. Selection Sunday will be March 16th at 8:00 pm EST on ESPN.
