Kirn Named Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 3, 2025) – Redshirt senior Griffin Kirn of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Against Queens (N.C.) on Friday night, Kirn was stellar on the mound, tossing 8.0 innings while allowing just one unearned run. He struck out 10 and walked none as 72 of his 96 pitches were thrown for strikes.

On the season, the Quincy transfer is 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.

It is the 21st time in program history that a Mountaineer has been named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week. He is the first since Derek Clark on May 13, 2024.

Big 12 Player of the Week – Maximus Martin, Kansas State

Big 12 Co-Pitchers of the Week – Harrison Bodendorf, Oklahoma State & Griffin Kirn, West Virginia

Big 12 Newcomer of the Week – Tommy Barth, Kansas

Kirn and the rest of the Mountaineers will be back at home, March 7-9, for a three-game series against Kennesaw State. First pitch on Friday is set for 2 p.m.
