WVU and Rich Rodriguez find their running backs coach to fill the hole after Chad Scott took the running backs coach position at Texas a few weeks back.
Larry Porter has been announced as the next running backs coach at WVU after being at UNC since 2021. Porter is 52 years old and has been coaching for 28 years. He took the running backs coach position at UNC in 2021 and has been there ever since. Prior to that, he had two other stints with UNC and has coached at other schools like Auburn, Texas, Cal, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, LSU, UT Martin, and Woodale and was the head coach at Memphis.
Porter has earned a reputation as a great recruiter, being named National Recruiter of the Year twice in his career. He is held in high regard around the country and is widely known to be one of the top running backs coaches.
He will join a WVU running backs room that is headlined by Jahiem White, who will look to take another step in his development after working with Porter.
