Chad Scott was recently hired to take over the running back’s coach position at Texas. On Friday, Scott posted his farewell to the WVU football program.
Chad Scott was the running backs coach at WVU from 2019 to 2025 under former head coach Neal Brown and even held the interim head coach duties for the bowl game at the end of the 2024 season. Scott was re-hired by WVU when Rich Rodriguez was filling out his coaching staff.
Scott was highly respected amongst many of the players he coached and the coaches he worked beside in his time at WVU and had been a huge part of the team’s running game success over the last few seasons.
Texas has been looking to fill the running backs coach position since Tashard Choice made the jump to the NFL when he was hired as the running backs coach for the Detroit Lions earlier in February.
This comes as a surprise to WVU and could potentially shake up the running back room once the transfer portal re-opens after the conclusion of Spring ball, which starts next week.
