Sam White is one of the biggest names returning to the Mountaineers for 2025. After coming off a big sophomore year, he will look to make an even bigger impact in 2025.
White, a 5-foot-11 utility player for WVU, is entering his junior year after being a key piece to the team’s success just a year ago. He led the team in hits last season with 65 and runs scored with 47. He also hit for a .305 average with 10 home runs while being the only Mountaineer to appear in all 60 games last season, earning him an All Big-12 Honorable Mention honor.
White had a great game last year in the Regional final against Grand Canyon University. He finished the game with two hits and drove in two RBIs in the team’s 10-6 win that sent them to their first Super Regional appearance in the program’s history.
So far in 2025, White has been slotted at No. 2 in the batting order and has played second base in all three of WVU’s games. He had a tough series at the plate, recording one hit and one RBI over 12 at-bats. Look for White to heat up at the plate and be a big factor in the team’s success over the 2025 season.
