With the NCAA basketball season approaching tournament time, let’s take a look at how the Big 12 has shaken out so far and where WVU stands.
The Big 12 women’s basketball standing this far features five ranked teams, and the race for the Big 12 is still wide open. No. 14 Kansas State is currently ranked at the top of the conference with a 24-3 record and a 12-2 record within the conference. No. 25 Baylor is currently tied for first place with Kansas State.
No. 18 West Virginia currently sits at sixth place in the standings and is tied for fifth with No. 20 Oklahoma State with 10-4 conference records. They both sit at 2.0 games out of first place with four games remaining.
WVU will have the chance to reach the top of the conference as they play three opponents that are currently higher than them in the conference standing. No. 14 Kansas State, No. 11 TCU, and Utah are the three teams that they currently are scheduled to play that sit atop of them.
The rest of the Big 12 hasn’t been as competitive as the top, as nine teams have records below the .500 mark in conference play.
The Women’s Big 12 Tournament will begin March 9th in Kansas City, Missouri. The seedings and bracket are still up in the air as the season winds down.
