The Mountaineers will be debuting their coal rush jerseys for their home game against Utah on Saturday, Feb. 9.
After fans loved the all-black coal rush jerseys in football this past season, WVU decided to run it back for basketball as well. Although the jerseys have not yet been revealed, you can assume they will resemble the same uniforms in the WVU football game against Iowa State.
The jerseys are meant to honor all the present, and past coal miners that have made up West Virginia’s history. Without coal, the state of West Virginia would not be where it is today.
The jerseys will be revealed before the 5:00 P.M. EST tip-off, and fans are encouraged to wear black to support the Mountaineers and the Miners.
This game is not only big for the state but is also big for the team that will need to pick up a much-needed win against a struggling Utah team.
