West Virginia women’s basketball takes on Kansas this evening in a Big 12 matchup at the Coliseum. The Mountaineers sit 18th in the nation with an overall record of 17-4 (7-3 in Big 12). The Jayhawks have a season record of 14-8 (4-7 in Big 12).
Tonight’s game will mark the 25th meeting between the two teams since 1992. West Virginia has the upper-hand in the series with a record of 18-7.
Last year, the Mountaineers bought home an 85-60 win after traveling to Lawrence for an early season matchup. While the Jayhawks are unranked and haven’t performed impressively this year, there are some talented players the West Virginia lineup needs to look out for.
Sophomore guard S’Mya Nichols leads the Kansas team in both points and assists per game. This season, she averages 20.2 points and 4.9 assists per game.
Freshman forward Regan Williams leads the Jayhawks in rebounds averaging 5.2 per game. Standing at 6-foot-3, Williams will have a height advantage to West Virginia star JJ Quinerly.
The Mountaineers hope to add to their two-game winning streak against Kansas this evening. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
