With the 2025 WVU Football season now in the rearview mirror, we can now officially observe which players lead the Mountaineers statistically this year. These were the statistical leaders for the Mountaineers across multiple offensive categories:
PASSING YARDS
Scotty Fox – 1,276 yards
Despite only taking over as the starter for the back half of the season, the WVU true freshman signal caller still managed to become the team’s leader in passing yards. In fact, he claimed that title after just his fourth start in the game against Colorado. Fox played in 10 games total this season and was the WVU starting Quarterback for the final 6 games of 2025. Look for him to compete to keep that starting quarterback title heading into 2026.
2nd: Nicco Marchiol – 720 yards
3rd: Khalil Wilkins – 185 yards
RUSHING YARDS
Diore Hubbard – 335 yards
With Rich Rodriguez’ offensive track record, this is certainly a number that most of us expected to be higher at season’s end. However, injuries played a huge factor in WVU’s lack of an established bellcow in 2025. Jaylan Knighton was ruled ineligible in the preseason, Jahiem White was lost for the season in game two, and ditto for Tye Edwards after game three. The rest of the year was largely by committee, yet Hubbard did show some impressive effort down the stretch. Particularly against Houston, he became the 2nd RB to rush for over 100 yards in a game in 2025. As a team, WVU managed to rush for 1,928 yards.
2nd: Cyncir Bowers – 249 yards
3rd: Khalil Wilkins – 243 yards
RECEIVING YARDS
Cam Vaughn – 540 yards
It’s not surprising to see Cam Vaughn as the WVU season leader in receiving yards for the season. What may be surprising though is the slight dropoff in yardage as he racked up 803 receiving yards at Jacksonville State in 2024. The ongoing quarterback carousel throughout the first half of the season, plus some pass protection issues may have prohibited the Sophomore speedster from hitting a higher total this year. WVU Football still has yet to see a receiver hit the 800-yard mark in receiving yards in a while, a feat that hasn’t been achieved by a Mountaineer since 2018.
2nd: Jeff Weimer – 383 yards
3rd: Rodney Gallagher – 243 yards
Some other offensive stat leaders include:
Passing TDs: Scotty Fox – 7 touchdowns
Rushing TDs: Diore Hubbard – 4 TDs
Receptions: Cam Vaughn – 35 receptions
Receiving TDs: Cam Vaughn – 4 touchdowns
