West Virginia is in the midst of a three-game losing streak and making their path to the tournament more difficult. Let’s see where they stand in the latest ESPN Bracketology.
While West Virginia stands at 13-7 on the year and 4-5 in conference play, the team still has work left to do to punch their ticket to the tournament.
The latest ESPN Bracketology has WVU as a No. 9 seed in the East (Newark) region of the tournament. If the bracket were to be set today, ESPN has them matching up with No. 8 seed UCONN in the opening round.
West Virginia still needs to reach that 19-win mark to give themselves the best chance of making the tournament. They are set to begin the final stretch of the season in which they are slated to play all Big 12 teams that are not ranked in the AP Top 25.
WVU has to capitalize on this stretch to reach the 19-win threshold and set themselves up with the best possible seed in the tournament.
