A brutal loss meant a brutal drop in rankings for WVU Women’s Basketball this week.
After falling 77-62 to the unranked Wildcats in Arizona on Saturday, the Mountaineers took a tumble in the AP top 25 this week, falling from No. 16 to No. 21.
With a record of 16-4 overall and 6-3 in the Big 12, West Virginia held onto a spot in the top 25 for the 13th consecutive week. Wednesday’s 30-point win over Arizona State likely helped WVU stay in the top 25 despite suffering the upset loss during the weekend.
Only Maryland fell more spots than WVU in the poll this week, dropping six spots to No. 14. The Mountaineers will look to keep its ranked streak for every week of the season with just one game this week on Saturday.
West Virginia welcomes Oklahoma State at noon on Saturday to Morgantown. Fans will wear pink to usher in February and celebrate Alumni Day.
