The West Virginia women’s basketball team secured their fifth conference win against Iowa State Sunday afternoon with a score of 82-68. Facing some tough offensive opponents, the Mountaineers carried their momentum into the second half to finish strong. Sunday’s game was televised on FOX.
In the first half, the Mountaineers started off strong with a shot by Jordan Harrison behind the three-point line. The Cyclones quickly responded but West Virginia fell into their rhythm with an 11-0 run.
West Virginia found its largest lead of 26 points in the third quarter with a score of 57-31 but continued to lead by double digits for the rest of the game. The Mountaineers shot 26 points off of 25 turnovers and have forced at least 15 turnovers in every game this season.
Harrison and JJ Quinerly led the Mountaineers with 20 points each. Kylee Blacksten went three for three from the field and two for two in shots behind the three-point line.
Iowa State’s Addy Brown led the Cyclones with 19 points. Audi Crooks followed behind with 13 points but the offensive star suffered six turnovers.
West Virginia ended Iowa State’s three-game win streak and now holds a record of 15-3 (5-2 in Big 12). They will hit the road to face Arizona State this Wednesday evening.
