The National Football Foundation announced that former Mountaineer Steve Slaton was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
The running back played at West Virginia from 2005-2007 under Rich Rodriguez. Over his college career, he rushed for more than 6,000 yards and 73 scores, setting five school records. He was the 2006 West Virginia team MVP and was fourth in Heisman Trophy balloting,
Following his career at West Virginia, Slaton went on to play at the next level. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2008 and played with them for four seasons. He then was picked up by the Miami Dolphins but was soon released.
Slaton is the seventh West Virginia football player to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
