WVU men’s basketball has fallen out of the most recent AP Poll after a brief stint at No. 21 while falling to No. 25 in the coaches poll.
West Virginia fell two spots in this week’s USA Today coaches poll from No. 23 to No. 25. The coaches poll consists of a weekly ranking made by all of the Division 1 coaches in the NCAA.
The Mountaineers found themselves at the No. 21 spot in the AP Poll since Dec. 2022 following their big win over No. 7 Kanas on Dec. 31st. WVU held that spot for only a week after a rough loss at home to an unranked Arizona team and a close win over Colorado on the road.
WVU comes into this week with an extremely tough schedule, playing No. 10 Houston on the road and No. 2 Iowa State at home. This may be the biggest stretch of the season for the Mountaineers and is a great opportunity to establish themselves as contenders in the Big 12 against two of the best teams in the country.
West Virginia will travel to take on No. 10 Houston on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 8:00 pm EST. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
