The first four conference games have brought a few surprises. West Virginia’s upset of one of the top-ranked teams in all of college basketball, Kansas, has headlined those surprises.
The Mountaineers are 12-3, 3-1 in Big 12 Play. Darian DeVries and company face a tough two-game stretch with No. 12 Houston on the road and No. 3 Iowa State at home.
No Big 12 team is undefeated overall, but three teams are undefeated in conference play so far: Iowa State, Houston and Arizona, who avenged a loss against WVU this week. Colorado and Cincinnati are the two teams yet to pick up a win in Big 12 play.
Out of Big 12 teams, Iowa State scores the most per game at 86.2, which ranks No. 10 nationally. The next closest is Texas Tech with 85.4 points per game, despite the fact that the Red Raiders sit around the middle of the pack with a 2-2 record in conference play.
