The West Virginia men’s basketball team appeared in the AP Poll for the first time since 2022-2023 at No. 21 and the West Virginia women’s basketball team moved up a spot to No. 17, marking the first time the two respective teams were ranked during the same time since the week of Jan. 25, 2021.
In the first year under head coach Darian DeVries, the men’s team has impressed many. They’re 12-2, coming off an upset win over formerly No. 7-ranked Kansas and a dominating victory over Oklahoma State, beginning conference play 2-0.
The women’s team has continued to be successful under second-year head coach Mark Kellogg. They also stand at 12-2, winning back-to-back games against BYU and UCF after dropping their first conference game to Colorado.
Both teams will be in action this week as the men’s team hosts Arizona on Tuesday, and women’s take on Texas Tech on Wednesday, and Oklahoma State on Saturday, both on the road.
