WVU has announced that Jeff Casteel will return to the Mountaineers coaching staff as the Bandits coach.
Casteel served as a defensive line coach under Rich Rodriguez in 2001. He served as a co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2002 and 2003 as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
Casteel followed Rodgriuez to Arizona as his defensive coordinator from 2012-2016.
Casteel will join another Rich Rodriguez staff in Morgantown in 2025 as the Bandits coach. A bandit is a hybrid defensive position combining linebackers and defensive ends and he will handle that position group.
He most recently worked for WVU from 2020-2023 as a senior defensive analyst and oversaw high school relations.
Jeff Casteel is back in Morgantown for his third go-around and will be joining his son, who was named as a graduate assistant defensive coach.
