West Virginia senior guard Javon Small was named Big 12 Player of the Week as well as the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Player of the Week.
Coming off a week in which the Mountaineers went 2-0 with wins over No. 7 Kansas and Oklahoma State to open conference play, Point guard Small averaged 18.5 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
The Mountaineers enter the week ranked No. 21 in the AP poll for the first time since Dec. of 2022. Small has been a big part of the Mountaineer’s success to open the season and has played an even bigger role after the injury to Tucker DeVries.
Through 13 games, Small leads the Big 12 with 19.5 points per game, while WVU sits second in the Big 12 at 11-2 and 2-0 in conference play.
West Virginia will continue Big-12 play at home in a matchup with Arizona on Tuesday, Jan.7 at 7:00 pm EST. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
