The Mountaineers had a week of no game action following their win over Bethune-Cookman last Saturday. Head coach Darian DeVries said the boys brought practice back to the basics before their next matchup.
With key player Tucker DeVries out indefinitely with an injury, the Mountaineers have had to make adjustments based on their positioning and rebounding. DeVries said he had to get creative with drills to keep it “fresh.”
“Coming up with new drills to get a new way to go hit a body and then offensively cleaning up some of our sets right now with guys in different positions,” DeVries said.
Although it was finals week for the Mountaineers, DeVries described practice as “energetic and engaging.”
“I thought our guys truthfully had one of our better weeks for finals week,” DeVries said.
The Mountaineers (8-2) will finish nonconference play with their matchup against Mercyhurst (6-8) this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at home.
