According to ESPN’s Max Olson, West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson plans to enter the transfer portal.
Donaldson was a junior this past season. He was originally recruited as a tight end but became a running back for the Mountaineers.
Over the course of three seasons, while Donaldson has sustained some injuries, he has scored 30 touchdowns. As a freshman in 2022, he was averaging six yards per carry before suffering a season-ending leg injury.
2023 was Donaldson’s best all-around season, with nearly 800 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. This past season, he rushed for 734 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging slightly fewer yards per carry than in 2023.
Donaldson will have one final year of eligibility.
