Three-star defensive back Sammy Etienne officially signed his NLI to play with the Mountaineers. Etienne verbally committed to West Virginia in June but has recently announced he will reopen his recruitment.
The 5/11, 175 high school senior is from Winter Haven, FL and attended Lakeland High School. His team is 12-0 heading into the Florida 5A state playoff semifinals on Dec. 6 against Niceville. Etienne spent most of his high school career as a two-way player for Auburndale High School. He totaled 59 tackles, four pass breakups and one interception on defense and added 15 catches for 237 yards and a touchdown on offense.
ESPN ranks Etienne as the No. 95 safety nationally and the No. 154 player in Florida. He was also offered by Colorado, Kansas State, Oregon State and Washington.
