According to college football insider Pete Thamel’s sources, Chad Scott will be West Virginia’s interim head coach for their upcoming Bowl game.
This news comes a day after former Mountaineers head coach Neal Brown was let go. Scott has been WVU’s offensive coordinator since last year.
Scott joined Brown’s staff when he landed in Morgantown in 2019. He was co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach from 2019 to 2021 and run game coordinator/running backs coach in 2022.
With signing day for high school recruits on Wednesday and the transfer portal, Scott’s promotion to interim head coach is a chance to keep the Mountaineers. West Virginia will know what Bowl they’re playing in and opponent on Sunday.
