Wyatt Milum says he does not plan to sit out of WVU’s upcoming bowl game

WVU offensive tackle, Wyatt Milum, took some time to speak to the media on Monday afternoon following WVU’s victory over UCF on Saturday, a win that clinched a bowl game appearance for the Mountaineers.

The projected first round draft pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft was asked if he was planning on playing in the tea,’s upcoming bowl game. Despite Milum having the potential to hear his named called on the first night of the draft, he says he wants to play in whatever bowl game the team will play in.

“Yeah. I plan on playing in the bowl game. I want to finish the season with the guys. I feel like that’s the right thing to do, that’s just my personal opinion. I want to play in the bowl game, so that’s what I plan to do.”

The answer certainly came as a shock to many in college football’s new era of players sitting out of less important bowl games. As the bowl projections sit now with WVU’s ceiling being a 7-5 season, many probably assumed Milum would not want to risk injury and choose to not play.

Milum was asked to clarify if that decision was 100-percent made.

“That’s what I want to do, yeah. That’s what I want to do.”

While Milum never said that is what he IS going to do and instead only wants to do, it will be interesting to watch how the situation plays out over the next couple of weeks.

One thing was made certain about how Milum views WVU’s bowl game and that is that the game is just the same as any other game for Milum and the Mountaineers.

“I just feel like we go into each and every week just wanting to win. Just the one play mentality, one game mentality. So I just feel like each game we just want to go into that where we want to win that game. So this week we want to win this game, and then in the bowl game we are just going in wanting to win that game.”

Should Milum choose to play in the bowl game, it would certainly be a decision that not many other projected future first round picks have done in the recent past. It is clear Milum has his eyes set on WVU’s current opponent, Texas Tech, but will be a story for Mountaineer fans to keep their eyes on following the conclusion of the regular season.
