The West Virginia Mountaineers secured their sixth win of the 2024 football season Saturday night, at home over the UCF Knights. The Mountaineers defeated the Knights 31-21 in their third home win of the season, culminating Senior Day with one more round of Country Roads.
West Virginia’s sixth win of the season makes the team officially bowl eligible for post-season play, marking the 20th time this has happened in the last 23 years of West Virginia football.
Following the win, Brown commented “I’m happy to get to six (total wins) . . . We’ve been up and down. I don’t hide from that. If we can get to six (conference) wins, that’s something we’ll feel good about as a program. That’s something that’s never been done.”
The Mountaineers defeated the North Carolina Tarheels 30-10 in last December’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, NC.
West Virginia has been linked to several bowl games following the sixth win: the Independence Bowl vs Army, First Responder Bowl vs East Carolina, Armed Forces Bowl vs Navy to name a few.
The Mountaineers travel to Lubbock, Texas on Saturday, November 30 for their regular season finale.
