Senior Spotlight: Sean Martin

Defensive Lineman Sean Martin will make his last appearance at Milan Puskar Stadium and will be honored for Senior Day Saturday afternoon against UCF. 

Martin, a West Virginia native, joined the Mountaineers in 2020. During the COVID year, he was primarily used on special teams and played in the final five games of the 2020 season. 

In his 2021 freshman season, he saw action in all 13 games and was used on 275 snaps, including 212 on defense. 

Martin again played in all 13 games of the 2022 season and earned his first career start against Towson. He finished the season with eight starts and at least 1.5 tackles for loss in four games. 

In 2023, Martin earned a starting spot on the defensive line. He finished the season with 27 tackles, including 15 solo stops, one sack, five tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries and one blocked field goal. 

Overall, Martin has played in 43 games, including 21 starts. So far this season, he has totaled 17 tackles, including 6 solo stops and 3.5 sacks. 
Martin was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Conference Rookie Team in 2020 and made the Academic All-Big 12 Conference First Team in 2021, 2022, and 2023. He received the 2024 Iron Mountaineer Award. Martin graduated with his bachelor’s degree in sports management in December 2023 and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in business administration.
