WVU is honoring their senior class on Saturday against UCF.
Michael Hayes is a red-shirt senior kicker for the Mountaineers who transferred to WVU ahead of the 2023 season from Georgia State. Since then, Hayes has been the field goal and placekicker for the team. Hayes is 17 of his 21 field goal attempts in 2023. So far in 2024 he is 10/11 with a long of 45 yards.
Austin Brinkman is a senior long snapper for the Mountaineers. Brinkman has been with WVU since he walked on in 2020. He was awarded the 2024 Iron Mountaineer Award for being considered one of the best in the country at his position. Brinkman received a nod on the preseason All-American team and was named to the Reese’s All-American team.
Leighton Bechdel is a red-shirt senior punter/long snapper for the Mountaineers. Bechdel has seen action as a holder for WVU. Bechdel scored his first and only career touchdown on a fake field goal when WVU played Arizona earlier in the season.
