West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene suited up for his first start since Oct. 19 against Baylor on Saturday.
The Mountaineers lost 49-35. After the game, Greene reflected on the loss and his road to recovery from injury.
“I kind of knew on Tuesday and Wednesday that I was going to be good to go. Body felt really good,” Greene said. “The body felt fresher than usual [in] week 10. But yeah I felt good and felt ready to go.”
Greene was asked if he felt any rust after not playing in nearly a month.
“I mean not really. I felt good. The coaching staff and everyone did a good job of kind of getting me ready to go this week in practice, specifically with like looks and stuff,” Greene said.
Then, Greene was asked to evaluate his play. He completed less than 50% of his passes for 237 yards, throwing two passes and one interception. He also rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
“I feel like I played okay,” Greene said. “There’s some third-down decisions that I’d like back, but I mean I feel like I played okay. Just not good enough to win.”
The Mountaineers are back at home next week to face UCF. It will be Greene’s last career home game.
