Thamel: Greene Set to Return Against Baylor

According to college football insider Pete Thamel’s sources, senior quarterback Garrett Greene will start for West Virginia on Saturday against Baylor.

Greene has missed WVU’s last two games due to an injury suffered in the first half of a loss to Kansas State on Oct. 19. Nicco Marchiol stepped in for Greene and helped lead the Mountaineers to two wins during that time.

Marchiol’s performance led many to wonder if he should remain the starter. West Virginia head coach Neal Brown wouldn’t comment on the quarterback situation earlier this week but said that Greene would fully return to practice.

Greene was available against Cincinnati last week as the emergency quarterback, but now will be a full-go for West Virginia on Saturday. This season, he has thrown for 1,352 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. He’s rushed for 471 yards and three touchdowns.

Saturday’s game will be televised on ESPN2, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. EST.
