The Mountaineers host Baylor this week, looking to win their third game in a row.
Baylor is coming off a bye week after winning three in a row. They are 5-4 on the season (3-3 in conference play).
Baylor and West Virginia first played in 2012, when WVU joined the Big 12 and it was a thriller. Behind Geno Smith’s 656 yards and eight touchdowns, the Mountaineers won 70-63.
Since then, WVU has defeated the Bears seven more times and lost four. The series is now 8-4 in West Virginia’s favor. West Virginia has also won back-to-back games against Baylor, both decided by a field goal.
The Mountaineers’ longest winning streak against Baylor is three games from 2016 to 2018. Baylor has not won consecutive games against West Virginia; their wins came in 2013, 2015, 2019, and 2021.
WVU is undefeated against Baylor, 6-0, at home, but they are 2-4 on the road.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 4 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN2.
